Tower Hill

Tower Hill is the administrative ridge above the harbour, named for the fortifications that once guarded the bay below. State House, Parliament, the Sierra Leone Museum, and several of the central churches all sit on or near the hill. The British colonial layout — wide streets, official buildings, civic gardens — is still legible here, even where the buildings themselves are weathered.

The hill drops steeply to the Cotton Tree intersection and the old city, which sits below. The walk down has good views across to Bunce Island and the estuary.
