The Khalifa's House in Omdurman is a small museum in the former home of Abdullah al-Taaisha, who led the Mahdist state after the death of the Mahdi. Its exhibits cover the Mahdist period, the British reconquest, and daily life in late nineteenth-century Sudan.
The house is close to the Mahdi's Tomb, and the two work best as a combined visit. Together they give Omdurman a historical depth that is easy to miss from central Khartoum.
