Dar's nightlife is concentrated in the leafy suburbs north of the centre — Masaki, Oyster Bay and the Msasani Peninsula — where the expat crowd, returning Tanzanians and visitors mingle. The Slipway complex on Msasani is the gentlest entry point: cafes, juice bars and waterfront drinking spots, with views across the bay. For something livelier, the bars along Haile Selassie Road in Oyster Bay stay busy until late, and there is a small but committed live-music scene with bands playing Friday and Saturday nights.
