Ghomrassen rewards visitors who come for the landscape and the architecture rather than organised tourism. The town sits in a dramatic setting of eroded limestone gorges and rocky hillsides, and that landscape is as much an attraction as any single sight.
The two focal points are Ksar Hadada, a well-preserved Berber fortified granary that appeared as Mos Espa in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and the cliff sanctuary perched on the rocky crags directly above the town centre. The surrounding ksour landscape extends well beyond the town itself and repays exploration if you have a vehicle.
Facilities are limited. There are no tour operators, no ticketing systems, and no queues. This is part of the appeal.
