Konchogsum Lhakhang is a small but ancient temple dedicated to the three jewels of Buddhism — Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. It is thought to date from the 6th or 7th century, which would make it one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, though it has been rebuilt several times. The current structure follows a fire and reconstruction in the 2010s.
The temple was historically famous for a huge bronze bell, said to have rung so loudly when struck that it could be heard in Lhasa. Look for it as you walk between Kurjey and Tamzhing — Konchogsum is on the same valley loop and easy to add to a half-day visit.
