Golden Bull Ridge Park mixes a botanical garden with a cemetery for People's Liberation Army soldiers who died during the 1950 campaign to take Hainan from Nationalist forces. It is most atmospheric around Qingming Festival, when families come to tend graves, but the gardens and memorial setting make it a worthwhile quieter stop in Haikou.
