Xinhao Hill Park

The hill park surrounding the Governor's Residence offers the best views of the old German quarter and the bay. Well-maintained paths wind through pine and maple trees to several viewpoints, and the terraced gardens below the Governor's Residence are planted with seasonal flowers.

A German-era stone path climbs from the old concession streets to the hilltop, passing between the red-roofed villas of former colonial officials. It is the most atmospheric approach to the Governor's Residence and makes a good morning walk before the main tourist crowds arrive. The park is open from dawn to dusk.
