A municipal museum on Beach Road that traces the history of Visakhapatnam from its days as a trading port through the British Raj and into the modern era. The original building houses artifacts from the colonial period -- furniture, photographs, coins, and documents -- alongside pieces from the region's earlier kingdoms.
The Indian Navy has moved into the main hall with a dedicated marine section covering naval warfare, sea trade routes, and ship models. A newer wing displays paintings, palace furniture, and a worthwhile collection of vintage photographs of the city before its rapid growth. Not a world-class museum, but a solid hour's visit that gives you context for everything else you'll see in Vizag.
