Rani ki Vav Archaeological Park

The Archaeological Survey of India maintains the area around Rani ki Vav as a small park, with a museum-shed of recovered sculptures that were too fragile or too detached to remain in the stepwell itself. The park is lawned, shaded by neem and gulmohar trees, and pleasant for a sit after the descent into the well.

The site museum is small but free with the stepwell ticket. It contains additional carved panels, a few inscriptions, and architectural fragments from elsewhere in medieval Patan. Most visitors miss it; if you have come this far it is worth twenty minutes.
