The Beas above Kullu is one of the best-known rafting rivers in India. Most commercial trips start at Pirdi, about ten kilometres upstream, and finish at Jhiri — a 14-kilometre stretch of grade II and grade III rapids that takes roughly an hour and a half on the water.
The season runs roughly from mid-March to June, then again briefly in October once the monsoon clears. Booking on the day from operators along the highway in Kullu is straightforward and prices are negotiable. Wear quick-drying clothes — you will get soaked.
