The Dhalpur ground is the broad maidan in the centre of Kullu, ringed by deodars and bordered by the Beas. Cricket matches and casual evening strolls fill it on ordinary days. Once a year it transforms into the focal point of the Kullu Dussehra, the international festival that gives the valley its sense of identity.
It is also where the town meets — the road to Manali runs along one side, the bazaar climbs the slope on the other, and stalls selling shawls, dried fruit, and Himachali snacks set up around the edge most evenings.
