Mysore's Folklore Museum is housed in Jayalakshmi Mansion on the University of Mysore campus. Founded in 1968, it holds thousands of objects connected with Karnataka's folk art, craft, and everyday culture.
The strongest displays cover Yakshagana theatre, puppetry, costumes, household objects, and regional crafts. It pairs well with Mysore's better-known palaces and gives a different, more local view of the state's cultural life.
