A smaller, less visited sister island to Kolaba Fort, Khanderi lies a few kilometres offshore opposite Thal village. Like Kolaba it was a key Maratha naval base, and the surviving fortifications include cannons, water tanks and a lighthouse still in use today.
Boats can sometimes be hired from Thal jetty; sailings are weather-dependent and not always available. The neighbouring Underi Fort, an even smaller island, can be visited on the same trip if conditions allow.
