A small, pale-blue painted synagogue tucked into a side street of central Alibaug, built in 1840 by the Bene Israel community of the Konkan coast. It is one of a handful of working synagogues in Maharashtra's Konkan villages, and a quiet reminder of the long Jewish presence on this coast — much of the community emigrated to Israel after 1948, but a few families remain.
The interior is plain and unassuming. Visitors are welcome outside Shabbat and festival times; ask at the door.
