Lonavala's appeal is overwhelmingly in the landscape around it, not the town itself. The main draws are ancient rock-cut cave temples, Maratha hillforts, and the monsoon waterfalls that transform the Sahyadri escarpment into cascading green drama from June to September. Most sights require transport — an auto-rickshaw for closer spots like Tiger's Leap, a hired car or taxi for Karla and Bhaja caves, the forts, and the more remote viewpoints. The town is walkable but thin on sights; everything worth seeing is out on the ghats.
