Sita Gufa

Narrow Panchavati cave shrine tied to the Ramayana legends of Nashik

Sita Gufa is a small cave shrine in Panchavati, the part of Nashik most closely associated with the Ramayana stories. Local tradition links the cave with Sita during Rama's exile, and the shrine is visited together with nearby temples and the Godavari ghats.

The cave itself is tight, with a narrow stairway and low passages leading to images of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and a Shiva lingam. It is atmospheric rather than grand, and it can be physically awkward for anyone with mobility trouble, but for travellers following Nashik's sacred geography it is one of the more memorable stops.
