The Kalinga War Memorial is a small but unusual colonial-era monument north of Dehradun. It was raised by the British in memory of the Gurkha soldiers they fought during the Anglo-Nepalese War, making it a rare memorial built by an army to honour its opponent.
It is a quiet stop rather than a major sight, but the setting and the story make it worthwhile if you are already visiting the Rajpur Road side of the city or nearby Robber's Cave.
