The simple marble obelisk and bronze globe in front of the Gedung Merdeka were placed for the 30th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference. Plaques in Indonesian and English list the ten Bandung Principles adopted in 1955 — non-aggression, mutual respect for sovereignty, equality of nations — which became the founding ideas of the Non-Aligned Movement.
A small fountain in the courtyard incorporates a wall of national flags. Best visited in conjunction with the Asian-African Conference Museum next door. Free.
