Bandung has a serious cafe culture — driven partly by the university population and partly by the city's long tradition of creative industries. The Dago corridor and Braga Street are both well supplied with coffee shops, many of them in repurposed colonial buildings or converted villas with garden seating. Third-wave coffee arrived here early by Indonesian standards, and the specialty cafes around Jalan Dipatiukur and the Dago area roast their own beans and take the brew seriously.
Nightlife is low-key compared to Jakarta or Bali. There are live music venues, particularly around the Jalan Burangrang area south of the centre, where the indie rock and folk scenes Bandung is known for come to life on weekend nights.
