The 2.8km cable-stayed Pasupati flyover opened in 2005, carrying the Pasteur ring road over the deep Cikapundung river valley that cuts through northern Bandung. The bridge itself is the iconic image: a single concrete pylon and fan of stay cables that have become a near-universal symbol of the modern city in postcards and travel posters.
The park beneath the eastern approach — Taman Pasupati — is a popular evening hangout for skateboarders, photographers and food vendors. The grafitti walls along the riverbank below have become an open-air gallery for Bandung's street artists.
