The Masjid Pejlagrahan — known locally as Masjid Merah, the Red Mosque — is a 16th-century mosque a short walk from Keraton Kasepuhan. Its distinctive red-brick architecture shows the same blend of Chinese and Javanese influence found throughout Cirebon's older buildings. It is a working mosque, so dress modestly and visit outside prayer times. The combination of its age, its setting near the palace, and its unusual appearance makes it one of the more rewarding stops in the old town.
