Sunyaragi Cave is Cirebon's most unusual royal site, a former pleasure garden and meditation retreat built from coral-like masonry, grottoes, terraces, and water features. It looks more like a stage set than a palace, which is exactly what makes it memorable.
The site belongs with the city's kraton circuit but has its own strange personality. Go slowly through the passageways and courtyards, and use a local guide if you want the symbolic meanings rather than just the photographs.
