Badut Temple

Small eighth-century Hindu temple, one of the oldest surviving monuments near Malang.

Badut Temple is a compact Hindu temple on the western side of Malang, usually dated to the early medieval Kanjuruhan period. It is much smaller than East Java's famous temple complexes, but its age makes it important: this is one of the oldest surviving stone monuments in the region.

The visit is quick and quiet, with carved stone, a simple courtyard, and enough space to imagine how the site once sat outside the modern city. It pairs well with Malang's colonial streets and nearby archaeological stops if you are tracing the older layers of East Java.
