Fukurikiko Shrine was built by the former rulers of Mimasaka Province to pray for the safe birth of a daimyo's daughter. Local tradition also links the shrine with protection from viper bites.
It is a small, specific stop rather than a headline sight, but it gives a useful reason to look beyond Tsuyama's main castle-town circuit.
