Soja Shrine is counted among the three important shrines of the old Mimasaka area. The present shrine dates from 1562, giving it a longer story than its quiet setting first suggests.
It is a modest stop rather than a headline sight, but it adds a useful religious and historical counterpoint to Tsuyama's castle, garden, and preserved streets.
