This small museum explains a less obvious side of Tsuyama's history. Scholars from the city were active in rangaku, the study and translation of Western knowledge during the period when Japan's contact with the outside world was tightly limited.
It is a natural stop while walking Joto Street. The subject is niche, but it gives Tsuyama more depth than a simple castle-town label.
