Nakayama Shrine was founded in 707 and is dedicated to the deity of cattle and horses. The present shrine buildings date from 1559, giving the site a deeper history than its quiet suburban setting suggests.
It is a good stop for travelers interested in older shrine architecture or in seeing Tsuyama beyond the castle-park area.
