Kakuzan Park

Tsuyama Castle ruins, with high stone walls, city views, and famous cherry blossoms.

Kakuzan Park is Tsuyama's main sight and the reason the city clears the World66 bar. The castle keep is gone, but the stone walls rise in massive tiers above the town, with paths climbing to broad views over the basin.

In spring, the park is famous for its cherry blossoms, and the ruins become a local festival ground. Outside blossom season it is quieter and easier to read as a military landscape: ramps, walls, foundations, and viewpoints layered across the hill.

A story
Tsuyama Castle once had a huge complex of walls, gates, and turrets before the Meiji government ordered it dismantled, like many castles across Japan. The reconstructed Bitchu turret is modest, but the surviving stonework still shows why the castle dominated Mimasaka.
