Ukimidō is one of Nara Park's gentlest landmarks: a cypress-roofed, hexagonal pavilion set out over Sagiike Pond. It is not a heavyweight temple stop, but it rewards slow wandering, especially when the pavilion and trees reflect cleanly in the water.
Come early for mist and deer moving through the park, or late in the day when the light softens around the pond. It works best as a short scenic pause between Kasuga Taisha, the museum quarter, and the quieter paths south of the main deer crowds.
