Tawlet is one of the most original restaurants in Beirut. Every weekday a different home cook from a Lebanese village takes over the kitchen and prepares a regional buffet — Druze dishes one day, Bekaa farmer cooking the next, a Maronite mountain table the next. The menu changes with the cook, so you eat things you cannot get anywhere else in the city.
The format is a fixed-price open buffet. Wine and arak are extra. Lunch is the main service; arrive hungry. It is part of Kamal Mouzawak's Souk el Tayeb project, which also runs the Saturday farmers' market. Bookings recommended.
