Gibran Khalil Gibran Garden

A small but pleasant downtown garden named after the Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran, who wrote The Prophet. It sits between the UN House and the Grand Serail and offers a rare patch of shade and greenery in central Beirut.

A statue of Gibran and quotations from his work are scattered through the garden. It is the sort of place to drop into for ten minutes between sights rather than to make a special trip — but downtown has few alternatives, and on a hot afternoon those ten minutes matter.
