The historic centre of Kuching is walkable — the waterfront, Main Bazaar, Carpenter Street, Padungan, and the Sarawak Museum are all within about 30 minutes on foot. For further destinations, Kuching has a local bus network operated by Sarawak Transport Company (STC), with routes to Semenggoh, Kubah, and the Damai Peninsula. Taxis and Grab (the regional ride-hailing app) are reliable and inexpensive by Western standards. Bumboats cross the Sarawak River to the north bank on request, running from the Kuching Waterfront during daylight hours.
