Kuching's food is one of its main attractions, and locals will tell you — correctly — that Sarawak laksa is only properly made here. The open-air coffee shops (kopitiam) and hawker centres are where to eat, not the tourist restaurants. Padungan and the area around the central market are the best hunting grounds. The Sunday morning market at Satok gives access to produce you won't see elsewhere.
