Kuching is warm and humid year-round, with the southwest monsoon bringing heavier rain from November to February. The driest months are April to October, making these the best times for day trips to Bako and other parks. Bako can be wet and trails muddy in the monsoon season; the park is still worth visiting but expect rain. The city itself functions regardless of season — it has good covered walkways and restaurants to retreat to.
The Rainforest World Music Festival, held at the Sarawak Cultural Village in July, is one of Southeast Asia's most interesting music events and brings performers from across the world to Kuching for three days of concerts.
