Patan Durbar Square

The historic heart of Patan is one of the three royal squares in the Kathmandu Valley and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enclosed by palaces, courtyards, and pagodas built over many centuries by Malla kings, the square is denser and more intimate than Kathmandu's Durbar Square. The 17th-century royal palace forms the eastern edge; facing it stand the stone Krishna Mandir, the Vishwanath Temple, and a procession of smaller shrines. Entry fee applies for foreign visitors.
