Bangaan is a small Ifugao village about 12 kilometres east of Banaue town, beautifully positioned in a cluster of rice terraces with traditional thatch-roof houses still in use. It is one of the five UNESCO-listed terrace clusters, and unlike Banaue town itself it has been spared most modern building so the view is uncluttered.
A roadside viewpoint above the village gives an easy panoramic view; for a closer look you can walk down through the terraces to the village in about twenty minutes (and back up in forty). Bangaan is often combined with a Batad visit as a half-day from Banaue — the road passes through both. It is markedly quieter than the main viewpoint and almost empty outside late morning.
