The brackish-water ponds that surround Dagupan are where the milkfish is actually farmed — a vast grid of dykes and floodgates between the river and the gulf, threaded with small banca canoes. Several operators in Bonuan and Bolosan run informal boat tours through the ponds, including a stop to harvest bangus from a pen and a meal of grilled fish cooked on the boat.
Half a day on the water, about ₱1,500 per person for a group of three or four. The best are the operators who work out of small jetties near the river mouth rather than the marketing-led ones on the main road.
