Things to Do

Tacloban's sights cluster around two themes: the Second World War and the long shadow of the Marcos family. The first takes you south to Red Beach at Palo for the MacArthur Landing Memorial and onto the rebuilt San Juanico Bridge out towards Samar. The second is best seen at the Sto. Niño Shrine, Imelda's lavish hometown residence, now a startling museum of her collected excess. Add a climb up Kanhuraw Hill for the view, and you have a full day in the city itself.
