Core Pacific City, better known as the Living Mall, was a vast 2001 shopping complex built around an enormous golden sphere that hung over Bade Road — one of the most distinctive and divisive buildings in Taipei. The mall struggled commercially for years and was finally demolished in 2021 to make way for a new commercial tower.
The sphere is gone, but the spot remains a reference point in the Songshan retail district, a short walk from the Songshan Cultural Park and the Raohe night market for anyone tracing the area's recent history.
