Capital Gate

The 35-storey leaning tower at the eastern end of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, opened in 2011 and currently the official Guinness record holder for the world's most tilted tower. The upper floors house the Andaz Hotel; the lower ones are office space.

You can visit the lobby and the Cloud Nine champagne bar at the top for the view back across the city. Architecturally it is more interesting from outside — the diagrid steel facade was engineered specifically to handle the asymmetric loads of the lean.

A story
The tower leans 18 degrees off vertical to the west — four times the lean of the Tower of Pisa — and is recognised by Guinness as the most tilted man-made building in the world. The lean is structural, achieved by stacking each floor a few centimetres further off-axis than the one below.
