Wooden sampans leave from the waterfront on Bach Dang Street for short crossings to Cam Kim Island or longer trips to the coconut forest, Kim Bong village, or the Thu Bon estuary. Short crossings cost almost nothing and take fifteen minutes. Longer trips — typically two to three hours — are best arranged through guesthouses or direct with boatmen at the dock. Evening departures coincide with the lantern-lit Old Town waterfront, which looks best from the water. A more pleasant way to arrive at Kim Bong or the coconut forest than going by road.
