Getting Around

The Old Town is small enough to walk — the core area takes about twenty minutes to cross on foot. Beyond the town, bicycles are the right vehicle: the roads to An Bang and Cua Dai beaches, the villages, and the river crossings are flat, clearly signed, and lightly trafficked. Bicycle rental is widely available from guesthouses and shops for a few dollars a day.

Motorbike taxis (xe ôm) operate from stands around the Old Town and are useful for reaching the bus station or My Son early in the morning. Agree the fare before you get on.

Boat trips on the Thu Bon River depart from the waterfront on Bach Dang. Short crossings to Cam Kim Island take a few minutes; longer trips to the coconut forest or Kim Bong village run an hour or two.
