The nearest airport is Da Nang International, about 30 km north of Hoi An. Taxis from the airport take around 45 minutes and cost a fixed rate. Grab (the region's ride-share app) is cheaper and more reliable for pricing. There is no direct bus between the airport and Hoi An, though minibus transfer services are widely advertised.
From Da Nang city, public buses run regularly to Hoi An from the inter-city bus station and take about 45 minutes. Taxis are faster and not expensive for the distance.
From Hue to the north, the most scenic route is by motorbike or private car over the Hai Van Pass — a genuinely spectacular coastal road. Buses and trains connect Hue to Da Nang, from where you change for Hoi An. There is no railway station in Hoi An itself.
