Leeton is one of the Riverina's planned irrigation towns, laid out in the early 20th century and still carrying more architectural personality than its size suggests. It is not a major destination, but it passes the spare-day test if you are already moving between Griffith, Wagga Wagga, and the Murrumbidgee.
The town's best argument is its Art Deco core. Start with the Leeton Art Deco Walk, then stop at the red-neon Roxy Theatre, a country picture palace that gives the town a real landmark rather than just a main street. The nearby water towers, civic buildings, and old hotel fronts make Leeton feel designed, not accidental.
Nature is close too. Fivebough Wetlands, just outside town, is the strongest outdoor anchor, with bird hides and open wetland walks. Add the Yanco Powerhouse Museum or a tasting at LillyPilly Estate Winery, and Leeton becomes a quiet but coherent Riverina stop.
