Todd Mall is the pedestrianised main street of Alice Springs — a broad shaded mall with Aboriginal art galleries, cafes, tourist shops, and the town's essential services arranged along several blocks in the town centre. It is the hub of town life, and the best place to browse Aboriginal art from the Western Desert and Arrernte traditions, though the quality and provenance of galleries varies considerably.
The mall hosts the famous Henley-on-Todd Regatta in October, when boats are carried down the dry riverbed in one of Australia's more surreal annual events. Year-round, it is the place to start a walk around Alice Springs, pick up provisions, and get a sense of the town's distinctive character — outback practicality mixed with significant Indigenous cultural presence.
