Mooloolah River National Park protects a quieter, flatter side of the Sunshine Coast: wallum heath, paperbark wetlands, riverine vegetation, and habitat for birds and small wildlife. It is not as dramatic as Noosa National Park, but it shows an ecosystem that has disappeared from much of the developed coast.
The park works best for walkers, birders, and travellers who want a break from beaches and resort strips. Go in dry weather, take insect repellent, and treat it as a nature walk rather than a scenic lookout destination.
