ArtGeo Cultural Complex

1860s courthouse and gaol, now galleries and studios

Address 7 Queen St, Busselton

ArtGeo occupies the cluster of stone-and-brick colonial buildings on Queen Street, built between 1860 and 1896 as Busselton's courthouse, police station, gaol, and bond store. The Vasse magistrate's court ran here until 1971; the cells in the gaol block kept some of the original iron-strapped doors.

The complex is now home to a public art gallery, working artists' studios, a small local-history museum, and the regional pottery group. Entry to the grounds and gallery is free; check the courtyard board for the changing exhibitions.
