Geographe Bay is shallow, north-facing, and protected by Cape Naturaliste — which makes the Busselton foreshore one of the calmest swimming beaches on the west coast. The water shelves out so gently you can walk a hundred metres before it reaches your shoulders, and there is rarely a wave bigger than a ripple.
The grassed foreshore park behind the beach has barbecues, picnic shelters, a children's water playground, and a long shared bike-and-walk path leading west toward the jetty and east toward Geographe. Sunset over the jetty is one of the best free shows in Western Australia.
