Bridge of Remembrance

The Bridge of Remembrance is Christchurch's main war memorial, honouring those lost in World War I and later conflicts. Its memorial arch was added to an older bridge over the Avon River in 1923-24.

The bridge was damaged in the 2011 earthquake and reopened after repairs in 2016. It remains a pedestrian landmark in the central city.
