Highwic

Highwic is a Victorian timber house built in 1862 for the Buckland family, large enough for a household that eventually included 21 children. It gives a good look at the domestic side of colonial Auckland, with period rooms, steep gables, and gardens around the house.

It is not Auckland's biggest sight, but it is a worthwhile stop if you like historic houses or are already visiting Newmarket or nearby Mount Eden.
